Electricity and Fire Investigation (classroom)-Cameron Novak

This course will address the role electricity plays in fire investigations. Topics will include basic electricity, scene safety, investigation methodology, identifying damage to electrical wiring, arc surveys, failure analysis, and various appliances. Classroom instruction will be supplemented with live demonstrations and hands-on exercises.

Friday, September 23, 2022 Solar Design and Installation (classroom)-Robert Webber

This presentation will cover solar energy, energy storage, batteries, interconnection of parallel power sources, codes and standards involving the importance of the installation of these systems from a fire investigators standpoint. Helping the student to understand the relevance of proper installation is relevant to knowing what to look for when something goes wrong. This will also address the importance of codes and standards as they relate to stopping an electrical fire before it starts.
