Monday September 18, 2023 (1pm-5pm, lunch on your own)
Arson Dog Presentation/Evidence Collection with Oregon State Crime Lab
Portland Fire & Rescue has continued its long-standing support for all fire service and law enforcement agencies across the Pacific Northwest through the Accelerant Detection Canine Team. The K9 Team consists of a certified accelerant detection canine and handler who are prepared to respond across the region to assist agencies in their fire investigations. The K9 has been proven to be an invaluable tool when conducting fire scene examinations, evidence or article sniffs, and suspect sniffs. The team will present their qualifications, training requirements, response capabilities, and discuss case law surrounding the deployment of the K9. In partnership with the Oregon State Police Arson Unit and OSP Forensics Laboratory, a showdown between hydrocarbon detectors and the K9 was conducted. Much was learned and will be shared along with some real life K9 case reviews.

Hearth Product Fire Investigation with Dale Feb
This eight-hour presentation will assist in the identification of hearth, chimney, and vent products, the expected performance and failure of such products, and the failure analysis of these systems after a structure fire. There will be discussions and case photos showing fire scenes, the improper application of various systems and materials, and the associated risks of these improper installations.

The Oregon IAAI Chapter 31, Event Cancellation and Refund Policy will be as follows to assure consistency and is applicable to the annual training seminar. Please send cancellation/refund requests to Oregon IAAI Admin Office at oregoniaai31@gmail.com.
Conference registration canceled on or before August 18, 2023, is refundable but subject to a $50 administrative fee.
Registrants canceling on or after August 19, 2023, will NOT receive a refund. Registration fees may be transferred to another individual.
