This presentation will provide an overview of NFPA Chapter 13 Safety, including the upcoming changes in the 2021 edition. As a referenced companion document in the 2021 edition of 921, we will also review and discuss the IAAI document Fire Investigator Health and Safety Best Practices and go over some of the additions in its 2020 edition.
Learning Objectives:
• Understand the overall impact of NFPA Chapter 13 and Fire Investigator Health and Safety Best Practices on the fire investigation industry
• Understand the changes for the 2021 Edition of NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigation, contained in Chapter 13
• Understand the various responsibilities concerning safety at the post-fire scene
• Recognize the health and safety hazards present at post-fire scenes
